Pleasanton's water utility is run by the city itself — Pleasanton Water — which buys most of its supply from Zone 7 Water Agency, the wholesaler for the Tri-Valley. Pleasanton used to blend in its own groundwater, but the city's wells were taken offline in 2022 after PFAS was detected, so today the tap runs primarily on Zone 7's treated surface water, with those wells held in reserve for emergencies only.
